Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Eiwa Fukurou (英和ふくろう), the English–Japanese dictionary by XY Owl Labs, handles your information. It applies to the Android and iOS apps and to the web version at eiwa-fukurou.xyowl.com.
What stays on your device
No account is needed to use the dictionary. Your search history, word lists, and settings are stored on your device and are not sent to our servers unless you sign in. History can be deleted in the app (individually or all at once), and uninstalling the app removes everything.
If you sign in (optional)
You can sign in with a Google account to sync your word lists and settings across devices. We store only your word lists, settings, and a user ID on our servers. Search history is never synced. Only you can access your synced data.
Error reports
If you report a dictionary error, we receive the report, the entry it concerns, basic app information, and — only if you choose to provide it — a contact address for replies. Reports are used solely to fix the dictionary and to respond to you.
Ads
The app shows banner ads served by Google AdMob on Android, iOS, and the web. Google may collect device identifiers (such as your advertising ID), IP address, and ad-interaction data under Google's privacy policy. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland you may see a consent message that controls personalized ads. On Android and iOS you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not request access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
Service providers
The app, sign-in, sync, and error reports rely on third-party hosting and cloud providers, which may process standard technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver the service and prevent abuse. Their servers may be located outside your country. Pronunciation audio uses your device's own text-to-speech engine; we do not record what is read aloud.
Your choices
You can use the app without signing in, turn off and delete search history, and sign out at any time. To delete your account and synced data, email us from the Google account you used to sign in; we will delete it, normally within 30 days. You may also contact us to access or correct your information. EEA and UK users additionally have the rights provided by the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, we will update this page and revise the date above.
